.za DNA

web.za

On 19 July 2008 the .za Domain Name Authority seized emergency administrative control of the web.za second-level domain after repeated and prolonged failures of the then primary nameserver, as well as many failed attempts to contact the then administrators of the domain. Their intention was to restore stability to the domain and thus allow existing registrants within web.za to continue using their sub-domains.

As a result, web.za is an active domain not accepting new registrations pending the establishment of a registry and the appointment of a new permanent administrator. It is not currently possible to register a new web.za domain. It is intended that, once a registry is licensed and established, the domain will be re-opened to new registrations via accredited registrars.

.za DNA has appointed a temporary custodian to handle the day-to-day operational issues associated with web.za. Essential operational changes to existing domains (change of nameservers, etc) can be requested via e-mail to webzaadmin@INVALID-REMOVE-BEFORE-SENDING.zadna.org.za. You'll be required to demonstrate operational control of the domain in question before any changes are made.
